First stop was Chrysler.. it's the brand I drive after all... This shot was without any post processing at all... you can barely notice the juxtaposition of the iron grill behind the metallic smooth emblem. The reason I post processed this shot was to bring out the grill pattern behind the Mercedes emblem... turned out quite well!
Mercedes has some nicely colored engine parts under their hood! Wanna know why Mercedes is a premium brand? I'm impressed with the detailing they've done under the hood. Mike and Alison joined me again this year. It's Alison's 4th year in a row.. and I think Mike's 6th or 7th year in a row...
I wanted to accentuate and draw out the cheese-grater like pattern of this McLaren body in moreof a 3 D fashion. There were a couple of Maybach's on display this year. Two brothers, future car-lovers playing hide and seek...
Some Mercedes Chrome. This is the back of a Lambo... I wanted to bring out the redness of the brake lights along with highlighting the honey-comb grill pattern.
More Lamborghini shots.. and the honeycomb grill! This tricked car must have had like 100 LCD screens all over it! But I just wanted to capture the details of the speakers under those low light conditions. I couldn't have done this with a simple point-and-shoot camera! Nice reflections off the chrome pipe
Top right is the chrome pipe you saw previously.. this tricked-out corvette had some really colorful engine parts.. More corvette engine shots.. Same corvette as previous pic.. Heres a shot of its wheels.

You gotta know your wiring to work under the hood! This guy is there every year hawking wash cloths to the public.. it's good to see that the good old fashion art of peddling hasn't been lost. Live informercials! Subaru Impreza WRX STI... you'll notice the faint STI lettering to the right of the pic. Somehow one of the stars caught a reflection of something red.. and it looks like it always belong on the logo! LOL

One more shot of the Corvette logo I have this theory about cars and sex. Sex sells and cars want to be sold.. so a sexy car headlight is shaped almost like a bikini top for good reason! Entering the skydome... this scene looks the same even during baseball season when the Jays are playing.
This photo really showcased the car's sleek and sexy body lines! This is an auto show after all. Mike sitting and testing out some cross-over SUVs. Yikes.. I was caught when trying to snap a shot of Alison!
Ford partnered with Foose to design some limited edition trucks.. but unforutnately.. even the great Foose cannot bring Ford out of the bottom rankings of the auto makers. Mike snapping shots. Identity Crisis: Is this a car's headlight or its foglight?

I hate center consoles.. as a rule, but I don't mind the one in the Mini.. it looks classic and nice! So I took a shot of one from the back of the Mini (trunk opened) with my 50mm. But couldn't zoom in.. (see next pic) (from prev. pic) My zoom lens 55-200mm got me this zoomed in shot. The name is Yu.... Mike Yu.. and I'm in my James Bond pose holding my "gun". Hindsight: I was using the zooming lens.. and this one is quite susceptible to camera-shake.. causing the blurring.

Someone had the lights on for this car, under-exposing the photo really drew the focus on the hypnotic eerie glow! I don't know if this Jaguar logo is new, but I like it! Side view of the Jaguar grill.
She dreams in technicolor... "I want one!" The classic Jacguar hood ornament. So many people touched it.. you can see the fingerprints! Cars to men.. are like Jewellery to women.. they bling!

Description: After 8 (or 9, I lost count) years in a row of attending the auto show, the trip is no longer about the cars.. but about photography! LOL This year, I decided to focus on taking shots of the auto show in weird, obscure ways.. showcasing the parts, rather than the whole car. The vast majority of the shots were taken with my newest lens: a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 prime lens (which means I cannot zoom with it). Since I couldn't zoom, it limited my field of view as I had to move myself to frame the shot. But the limitation actually forced me to get creative with my photography! Comments / suggestions are welcomed! I'd love to hear which shots were your favorites!
